It is a pleasure to share that We Inspect NJ is a licensed radon measurement technician firm (license #: MET15636). In December of 2022 state standards for New Jersey radon testing have been improved for validity and now align with National Radon Proficiency Program (NRPP). Radon is the second leading cause of lung cancer in the U.S. with an estimate of about 19,000 deaths a year due to radon exposure. This silent killer is high in New Jersey and we recommend all home buyers to get a radon test to evaluate if the levels inside the home are a concern. Many do not know of the severity of radon and we are here to educate and answer any questions you may have! UPDATE: We are also licensed to test large buildings, schools, and multi-family structures!

What is a Tank Sweep? Tank sweeps are comprehensive inspections conducted to detect the presence of underground storage tanks (USTs) on a property. These tanks were often used in NJ homes during the 1940s-1970s, and they can pose risks if left undetected. We Inspect NJ use one of the highest regarded 2-box locators to perform these very important sweeps. We also recommend that you check with the seller/ your agent if there is a decommission statement for the property on the removal or fill of an old UST. This documentation is very important and typically is from the state/town or even EPA.

Why Are Tank Sweeps Vital for Homebuyers?

  • Environmental and Health Concerns: Undetected underground storage tanks can lead to leaks, resulting in soil and groundwater contamination. This contamination can seriously impact the environment and, in extreme cases, your health. As a responsible homebuyer, it's essential to ensure that you're not inadvertently inheriting any toxic liabilities.
  • Financial Safeguarding: Dealing with a leaking underground tank can be an expensive nightmare. The cost of cleanup, remediation, and potential legal liabilities can quickly skyrocket. By getting a tank sweep done before your purchase, you shield yourself from unexpected financial burdens and protect your investment.
  • Insurance Coverage: Many insurance providers may refuse coverage or charge higher premiums for properties with underground tanks. With a tank sweep in hand, you can make an informed decision and obtain the necessary coverage without any surprises.

Don't let an underground storage tank turn your dream home into a costly nightmare. Invest in the security of your future by including a tank sweep as an integral part of your home inspection. Safeguard your finances, protect your family's well-being, and make a confident decision in the homebuying process. Let us assist you in ensuring your new home is a safe and sound investment!

Mold/Air Quality Testing
